Our office in Toronto is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer-Rail (rail) to join our Toronto team. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in office.

Civil Lead Engineer
Position Overview
Sener Engineering is seeking an experienced
Civil Lead Engineer (P.Eng.) to provide technical leadership and oversight for major infrastructure projects within Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading civil engineering design activities, managing multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring compliance with local municipal and provincial standards, and overseeing engineering deliverables developed by both local and international design teams.
This role requires a highly experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Ontario engineering practices, stakeholder management, and quality assurance processes.
Required Qualifications
Education & Professional Registration:
Master or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
Registered Professional Engineer
(P.Eng.) in Ontario and in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Eligible to act as Engineer of Record (EOR) where required
Experience:
Minimum 20+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
Minimum 10 years in a leadership or design management role
Extensive experience delivering infrastructure projects within Ontario
Demonstrated experience working with public sector clients, municipalities, transit agencies, and utility stakeholders
Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams is strongly preferred

Municipal engineering standards from GTA and Ontario municipalities
Quality Management & Design Review
Conduct detailed technical reviews of engineering designs, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
Serve as the senior reviewer for civil engineering submissions
Verify compliance with client requirements, municipal standards, and industry best practices
Establish and implement quality assurance and quality control processes
Review and validate work completed by international engineering teams
Global Team Management
Manage and direct engineering deliverables produced by engineers and designers in other countries
Clearly communicate Ontario-specific design requirements and client expectations to remote teams
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance of all deliverables prepared by offshore design centers
Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews across multiple offices and time zones
Resolve technical issues arising from differences in codes, standards, and engineering practices
Stakeholder Management
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and coordinate with:
Municipal staff and authorities
Utility owners
Regulatory agencies
Transit authorities
Clients
Contractors and construction teams
Responsibilities include:
Leading technical meetings and design workshops.
Managing stakeholder comments and approvals.
Presenting engineering solutions to clients and regulatory agencies.
Negotiating and resolving technical and permitting issues.
Project Delivery & Management
Lead civil engineering work packages from concept through detailed design and construction support.
Coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces
Monitor schedules, budgets, deliverables, and project risks
Support proposal development and business growth activities
Assist project managers in resource planning and execution strategies
