About the Role
Allied Universal Security is seeking an experienced, professional, and customer-focused
Security Patroller
to provide security services at a Research Centre in Burnby,BC. This role requires a proactive security professional who is comfortable working independently while maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and property.
The successful candidate will possess excellent observation skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and extensive experience with CCTV monitoring, access control systems, report writing, and conducting frequent foot patrols in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular interior and exterior foot patrols throughout the research centre, parking areas, and surrounding property to ensure the safety and security of people and assets.
Maintain a highly visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, unauthorized access, and other undesirable activities.
Patrol approximately
10,000 to 30,000 steps per shift
, depending on operational requirements.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Monitor CCTV surveillance systems, alarm systems, access control systems, and other security technologies to identify and respond to suspicious or unusual activity.
Control site access by verifying identification, monitoring entry and exit points, and enforcing access control procedures.
Respond promptly, professionally, and effectively to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, and requests for assistance.
Prepare accurate, detailed, and professional incident reports, daily activity reports, occurrence reports, logs, and electronic documentation using on-site computer systems.
Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues, security deficiencies, and potential risks to site management.
Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to employees, contractors, visitors, and authorized personnel.
Assist emergency services and act as a first responder during emergencies, evacuations, and other critical incidents.
Collaborate with site management, facility personnel, contractors, and fellow security professionals to maintain a safe, secure, and professional working environment.
Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and research activities.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned by site management or supervisors.
Required Qualifications
Minimum
4-5 years of security experience
in a commercial, institutional, healthcare, research, industrial, or corporate environment.
Minimum
4-5 years of experience monitoring CCTV surveillance systems.
Valid BC Security Guard Licence.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Advanced English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications.
Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
