Overview Job Skills / Requirements Site Description: Niagara Health -Douglas Memorial Hospital is a community hospital in Fort Erie, Niagara Region, providing 24/7 emergency care and a range of inpatient and outpatient services. As part of the Niagara Health system, it plays a vital role in delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare to residents and visitors in the Fort Erie community. Position: Full Time Security Guard Site: Douglas Memorial Hours: Continental Nights (2000-0800) Payrate: $19.04/hr. Averaging Agreement: Averaging Agreement after 88 hours Posting Date: June 26, 2026 Internal Posting Closing Date: July 2nd, 2026 External Posting Closing Date: July 10th, 2026 Key responsibilities: • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site. • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. • Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. • De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved. • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. • Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards Prerequisites: • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test • English (oral and written) fluency is a must • Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement • Legally authorized to work in Canada • Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability Why choose Paladin? • Opportunities for training and professional development • Competitive salary and benefits package • Free Uniforms • Security license reimbursement • Dry cleaning & hemming/tailoring allowance • Paid vacation & sick days • Work today, get paid today-daily pay available • Additional perk Education Requirements (All) High School Diploma/GED Certification Requirements (All) First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification Valid Ontario Security License Vulnerable Sector Check Additional Information / Benefits Paladin Security: Making the World a Safer and Friendlier Place because we CARE !
