Job DescriptionJob Description Baldface is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Second Guide to join our world-class guiding team. This role is perfect for a skilled backcountry professional who is passionate about mountain safety, exceptional guest experiences, and working alongside a tight-knit team in some of the best terrain on the planet. As a Second Guide, you'll work alongside the Lead Guide to deliver safe, smooth, and unforgettable days in the mountains. Whether you're keeping the energy high in the back of the cat, sharing your knowledge with guests, monitoring conditions, or stepping up to manage the group when needed, you'll play a key role in creating the legendary Baldface experience. From guest communication and mountain operations to rescue readiness and risk management, you'll help ensure every day is as safe as it is memorable. In this role, you may be scheduled to work at both Baldface Lodge and Baldface Valhalla. Responsibility Overview: Assist with all aspects of mountain travel and daily guiding operations. Monitor and manage hazards to ensure the safety of guests, staff, and yourself. Conduct guest safety and avalanche beacon training. Participate in daily guide meetings and operational planning. Help with guest luggage transfers and equipment management. Participate in lodge duties including evening service and morning maintenance tasks. Required Skills and Qualifications: Valid CAA Operations Level 1 certification. CSGA Level 1 or progressing towards ACMG certification. Current 80-Hour Wilderness First Aid, PEAK. Expert-level skiing or snowboarding ability in advanced backcountry terrain. Strong avalanche awareness, route-finding, rescue, and mountain travel skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented remote environment. $$: The starting rate for this position is $220 per day. Your actual day rate will be determined by your level of related experience with the skillset required for this job and your seniority. After your initial interview, we'll be able to tell you exactly what your rate will be.
