Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSeafood Department Supervisor Food World Plus – 50 Matheson Blvd E, Mississauga, ON Salary: $45,000 – $60,000 annually Job Type: Full-time The Opportunity : Food World Plus is seeking a dedicated and experienced Seafood Department Supervisor to support the Department Head in leading daily operations, ensuring exceptional product quality, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about fresh food retail. You will play a key role in supervising staff, maintaining food safety standards, and driving operational excellence within the seafood department. Key Responsibilities : Team Leadership & Operations Support the Department Head in supervising daily operations Provide guidance, direction, and support to Seafood Associates Ensure fair distribution of tasks and efficient workflow execution Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and customer service Assist in staff training, onboarding, and performance feedback Schedule team members and delegate work assignments effectively Product Quality & Food Safety Ensure the highest standards of freshness, quality, and food safety are maintained Monitor product handling, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO) Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards across the department Adhere to all workplace health & safety procedures Customer Experience Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with customers and providing product knowledge Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally Support a welcoming and informative shopping experience Inventory & Merchandising Manage inventory levels, ordering, and stock rotation Conduct regular quality checks and control shrink/spoilage Maintain appealing product displays, signage, and case presentation Ensure proper merchandising and product mix to maximize sales Track and maintain records of inventory and operational processes Procurement & Business Support Assist in sourcing seafood products and maintaining supplier relationships Support pricing, cost control, and profitability targets Interpret market trends and provide feedback to management Support department planning and execution of promotional activities Equipment & Facility Maintenance Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment Monitor and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in seafood, meat, or fresh food retail (supervisory experience preferred) Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent customer service and communication abilities Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Strong numerical and organizational skills Working Conditions Ability to stand for extended periods Comfortable handling seafood products (live and frozen) Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly Willingness to work in cold (0–4°reeC), freezing (-18°reeC), and wet environments Flexible availability including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays Must not have allergies related to seafood handling Why Join Food World Plus Be part of an exciting 176,000 sq. ft. grocery concept featuring immersive live food experiences.
