Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Project Scheduler Job Description Actalent's client is looking for an experienced construction scheduler the opportunity to lead and maintain complex, resource-loaded schedules on a large industrial project. You will work fully on site , closely with field teams, to manage civil and mechanical scopes, provide weekly reports, analyze delays and impacts, and submit Time Impact Analyses. The position is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running in a dynamic construction environment and is interested in a long-term opportunity with potential for conversion to a permanent role. Responsibilities Develop, build, and maintain large, resource-loaded construction schedules with 10,000+ activity lines for a major industrial project. Start by managing the civil construction scope and transition to the mechanical scope as the project progresses. Provide weekly schedule reports to the client, clearly communicating progress, delays, changes, and impacts. Perform ongoing schedule updates in real time, working directly with field teams to capture changes as they occur. Identify, track, and analyze delays and schedule impacts, and prepare and submit Time Impact Analyses (TIAs). Collaborate closely with site superintendents and internal stakeholders to ensure the schedule reflects actual field conditions. Lead schedule-related discussions in the field, challenge unrealistic timelines, and protect the integrity of the project schedule. Use project controls principles to monitor schedule performance and support proactive decision-making. Manipulate and analyze schedule-related data using MS Office and Excel to support reporting and forecasting. Support both general contractor and owner-side requirements for schedule management on a large industrial construction site. Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling practices and tools throughout the life of the project. Essential Skills 10+ years of scheduling experience, primarily within construction site environments. Strong site-based experience working directly on active construction projects, rather than office-only or shutdown-only experience. Proven experience building and maintaining large, resource-loaded schedules with 10,000+ activity lines. Demonstrated ability to update schedules live in the field and work directly with field teams to capture changes. Experience supporting large-scale industrial construction projects in either a general contractor or owner-side capacity. Proficiency with scheduling software (project scheduling tools), including building, updating, and analyzing detailed schedules. Strong proficiency with MS Office and Excel, including data manipulation and preparation of schedule-related reports. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead discussions and clearly explain schedule issues to field and office stakeholders. High level of assertiveness and confidence to challenge timelines and protect the project schedule when necessary. Proven ability to work effectively in a field-based, construction site environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing schedule risk analysis, including the use of Monte Carlo simulation software. Background in delays and impacts analysis beyond baseline scheduling, including preparation of supporting documentation. Interest in long-term opportunities and potential conversion from contract to a permanent role. Demonstrated ability to push back constructively on superintendents and internal stakeholders to keep the project on track and avoid delays. Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with field teams while maintaining schedule discipline. Experience working on large industrial projects with civil and mechanical scopes is an asset. Work Environment This is a fully site-based role at a major industrial facility in Fort Saskatchewan. You will work on a large, long-term project with an expected duration of approximately two to four years. The schedule is Monday to Friday. The environment is entirely field-focused, requiring regular interaction with construction crews, superintendents, and project stakeholders. The role operates within a general contractor setting on a large industrial site, where safety, collaboration, and effective communication are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edmonton, AB. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.
