As the Operations Superintendent , you will provide leadership across a complex lumber manufacturing operation, including Sawmill Operations, Kilns, Planer Mill, and Shipping. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe, stable, and efficient operations while helping build a strong culture centered around accountability, teamwork, technical capability, and operational discipline. Support safe, efficient, and reliable production from log intake through finished lumber. Drive production performance, lumber recovery, throughput, product quality, and operational efficiency. Lead daily troubleshooting and problem-solving activities with operations teams. Identify and address production bottlenecks, equipment constraints, process inefficiencies, and quality issues. Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, recovery, reliability, waste reduction, and operational performance. Team Leadership & Development Lead and support Operations Team Leaders and production teams across multiple operating departments. Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on communication, accountability, and continuous improvement. Coach and mentor supervisors and operators to strengthen technical capability and leadership depth. Support succession planning and employee development initiatives. Promote strong safety performance and operational discipline throughout the facility. Assist with employee relations and performance management within a unionized environment. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Reliability, and Technical teams to improve equipment uptime and production reliability. Support planned outages, preventative maintenance programs, and major maintenance activities. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate chronic operational issues. Partner with technical teams to optimize sawmill processes, improve lumber recovery, and maximize product quality. Support implementation of new operating strategies, technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Safety, Environmental & Quality Lead by example in driving a zero-incident safety culture. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, forestry standards, and company policies. Promote responsible stewardship of resources while minimizing waste and maximizing fibre utilization. Maintain high product quality standards and support quality assurance processes and customer specifications. What We're Looking For To be successful in this position, you will possess the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education in Engineering, Forestry, Wood Products, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within industrial manufacturing. Experience in sawmill, lumber, wood products, forestry, or other heavy industrial manufacturing is considered a strong asset. Strong operational troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Continuous improvement mindset with strong communication and leadership skills.
