We are seeking an experienced regulatory consultant to review and sign off on our packaging artwork and formulation against Health Canada's Supplemented Foods framework (Division 29, Food and Drug Regulations). Preliminary internal review is already complete. We have a working understanding of our regulatory pathway, category eligibility, and the cautionary statements our formulation triggers. We are looking for an expert to validate that work, catch what we've missed, and give us a defensible final sign-off before we commit to a production print run.
Scope of work
Confirm product classification and category eligibility under the List of Permitted Supplemented Food Categories
Verify all ingredients against the List of Permitted Supplemental Ingredients, including maximum levels per serving of stated size
Review and validate the Supplemented Food Facts table (SFFt) — format, permitted nutrient declarations, "Supplemented with" section, and caution box
Confirm required cautionary statements and correct placement of the Supplemented Food Caution Identifier (SFCI) on the principal display panel
Review bilingual (English/French) label content for regulatory equivalence and completeness
Review allergen declarations, dealer identification, net quantity, and ingredient list format
Assess front-of-pack marketing claims for compliance with permitted claims and CFIA fair-labelling requirements
Provide a written compliance summary with any required corrections, referenced to the applicable regulation or incorporated-by-reference list
Requirements
Demonstrated experience with Health Canada's Supplemented Foods Regulations (Division 29) — please cite specific products or submissions you've worked on
Working knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act, Food and Drug Regulations, Safe Food for Canadians Regulations, and CFIA labelling requirements
Experience with bilingual Canadian label review
Familiarity with imported/offshore manufactured products and supplier documentation (specifications, certificates of analysis)
Clear written communication — we need findings we can hand directly to a graphic designer and a contract manufacturer
Nice to have
Experience with NHP/NPN submissions (we may pursue this pathway for other products in our portfolio)
Experience taking a supplemented food from formulation through to retail launch
Familiarity with Canadian retail and distributor compliance requirements
