vaccination programs
Coordinate and implement infection prevention and control protocols in accordance with best practice guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Complete TCPS certification training with the current lead and assist with the PROMPT LTC study.
Process all on-site PCR specimen testing for symptomatic residents using our internal Point-of-Care machine, ensuring proper completion of requisitions and timely processing for send-off to TPHOL.
Assist with ensuring lab specimen collection orders are processed accurately.
Lead all vaccine clinics for the
respiratory seasons, tracking staff influenza vaccination status, Tamiflu prescriptions, resident vaccine records, and managing consent documentation. Support immunization programs for residents, staff, students, and volunteers in collaboration with Public Health and Resident Home Area Managers.
Track all Tamiflu consents, creatinine levels, and weights to ensure all information is current across all home areas.
Participate in planning and managing infection surveillance programs and outbreak responses in collaboration with the current IPAC Lead and local public health units.
Perform daily infection surveillance and support outbreak management efforts.
Maintain compliance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act regarding resident vaccinations and infection control standards.
Collaborate with the current IPAC Lead to identify training needs and ensure compliance with legislative changes.
Assist with planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating IPAC training and orientation programs for new and existing employees, ensuring proper documentation.
Act as a resource for staff, education coordinators, and management on IPAC best practices and new developments.
Participate in IPAC specialist team meetings, Joint Health & Safety Committee activities, work groups, and special projects.
Monitor staff compliance with infection prevention guidelines, including sharps disposal, PPE use, and hand hygiene, and provide regular reports to the Infection Prevention Committee.
Conduct all required audits as directed by the current IPAC Lead. This includes Home Area Audits, Hand Hygiene, PPE, etc.
Assist with the mask fit testing program, including tracking and reporting status.
Support onsite IPAC education and training during emergency events. Provide IPAC leadership and guidance during emergency and pandemic situations.
Assist with other duties as needed.
