The Peterborough Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our well-established medical practice. This is a permanent, full-time position with an average of 28 hours per week. During the first 12-18 months (Maternity Leave) you will be working closely with a collaborative team that includes two physicians and a dedicated receptionist, playing a key role in the daily coordination and management of patient care.
This position focuses on clinical and administrative nursing responsibilities such as practice management support, reviewing and completing incoming documents, phone triage and patient advice, and communicating test results to patients. Other nursing staff in the practice manage in-room patient care, including vitals, immunizations, and rooming, allowing this role to concentrate on care coordination and clinical decision support.
Following the completion of the leave you will continue to provide hands on patient care through the Clinic supporting our 19 Family Physicians with day-to-day patient care as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
- Review documents and flag urgent results for the physician
- Review reports and manage recalls for all preventative care – colon cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening
- Manage recalls for chronic disease management
- Assist physicians with sending referrals
- Assist with recalls for blood work, diagnostic imaging
- Review test results with patients by phone, respond to clinical questions from patients, provide medical advice for common minor ailments within the scope of an RN, provide patient education for a variety of primary care topics
- Keep patient medical records up to date with new information
- Manage new patient intake appointments, arrange relevant screening tests, review transferred records and populate chart
- Support medical receptionist with appointment triage, clinical inquiries, management of scheduling of a busy medical practice including multiple physicians and NP’s
- Assist with reception duties as needed – answering phones, checking in patients, forwarding documents, checking in patients, etc.
- Assist with suite nursing clinical duties as needed – rooming patients, completing vitals, immunizations, wound care etc.
- Assist patients and physicians with completion of various types of paperwork/forms for disability, insurance, legal, medication coverage
- Respond to requests for medical information in a timely fashion
- Actively participate in team meetings with physicians and office staff, create meeting agendas, follow up on action items
