Department: Critical Care Response Team/Critical Care Unit Composite Initial competition is now closed. We are continuing to accept applications until a candidate is selected. The Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) nurse is an experienced critical care clinician responsible for responding to deteriorating patients throughout the hospital. The CCRT nurse provides rapid assessment, advanced clinical intervention, stabilization and consultation to support bedside teams in preventing adverse events such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure and unplanned CCU admissions. The CCRT nurse also provides follow up care to post CCU transfers to the wards and to all CCRT requests for consultation. This role promotes early recognition of clinical deterioration and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve and promote patient safety and positive outcomes. QualificationsCertification/Experience/Knowledge Current Certificate of Registration - College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required, within the last 12 months Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate required Current IV therapy certification and Central Line Management required Coronary Care Course (min. 25 hours) and/or Lead II/12 Lead Interpretation Course (min. 15 hours) required Minimum 5 years of Critical Care nursing experience (within the last 1-2 years) required Previous experience on a rapid response team (Rapid Assessment of Critical Events (RACE), Critical Care Response Teams (CCRT), Critical Care Outreach Teams (CCOT)) an asset Critical Care Nursing Certificate is an asset Current certification of added nursing skills Defibrillation/Cardioversion External Pacemaker Emergency drug administration Skills/Abilities Demonstrate excellent level of interpersonal skills Demonstrate excellent level of written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team patience family members regional support services and community partners required Must demonstrate strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills Ability to provide health teaching to individuals and adult groups is required Must be committed to continuing education on an annual basis and demonstrated commitment to quality improvement Ability to effectively assume a leadership role as a collaborative member of a healthcare team is required Ability to meet the physical demands of the job is required provide nursing care to all patients Ability to problem solve and function in a fast-paced environment excellent demonstrated assessment skills critical thinking and intervention skills at a critical care nursing level Must demonstrate basic computer knowledge Must demonstrate commitment to ensure personal safety, safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required Must demonstrate good attendance Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
