Job Profile
The City of Cambridge’s Recreation and Culture Division is seeking reliable, customer-focused individuals to support recreation programs, facilities, rentals, and community events. Recreation Attendants help create a welcoming, safe, and positive experience for patrons by assisting with daily operations, providing general information and support, and completing assigned duties related to facility and event needs.
What you will be doing
Support program delivery and related administrative tasks.
Is directly accountable for the activities, programs, and Chief Warden responsabilities at various Recreation Facilities.
Supports part-time and contracted staff, and ensures they are performing the duties outlined in their job description.
Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, supporting programs, events, and rentals.
Lock, unlock, and secure assigned areas as required, including arming and disarming security systems.
Report and document accidents and incidents to the immediate supervisor.
Assist patrons and staff with emergency procedures within the facility, when required.
Greet patrons and confirm that rentals meet applicable permit requirements.
Perform event-related duties as assigned.
Guide customers with clean-up procedures and exiting the building.
Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a culturally diverse community setting.
Assist with set-up and take-down, which may include tables, chairs, garbage and recycling, audio video equipment.
Regularly works evenings and weekends, with assigned holiday shifts as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Knowledge
A minimum of two months of experience working in a similar environment is required.
Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certification
A current and valid Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check must be provided prior to commencing employment in this position.
Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Grade 12 or higher.
A valid Class G driver's license is considered an asset.

Rate of pay
The hourly rate for this non-union casual position is $17.60 per hour.
Hours of work
Hours of work may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and are dependent on program and event needs. There are no minimum guaranteed hours associated with this position.
