Summary Reporting to the Lifestyle & Wellness Manager, the Lifestyle & Wellness Assistant is responsible for assisting in implementing programming that enriches residents' lives with purpose, friendship and happiness through the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, environmental) in accordance with established goals and policies. Key Accountabilities Empowering older adults to live vibrant, purposeful lives by facilitating intentional programming that transforms everyday moments into opportunities for growth, connection, and genuine contribution. Uses Welbi and other tools to drive resident engagement in programs across the seven dimensions of wellness while also involving families, volunteers and the local community. Assists in the development and production of the monthly calendars and other informational material for the residents Adheres to management policies and procedures of purchasing, ordering, stock and inventory control Actively participates in the development of the resident profile and conducts regular interviews with the residents to ensure their wellness needs are being met. Directs and supervises volunteers as delegated. Participates in resident bus and shuttle outings with other team members as required. Observes and reports any changes in residents' functional and cognitive behaviour to the Lifestyle & Wellness Manager Ensures residents' rights of privacy and confidentiality are maintained except in the proper operation of the business Ensures that proper security procedures are followed in the handling and storage of any confidential material Attends approved work-related conferences and seminars to promote and maintain professional development Ensures that departmental operations comply with all Health and Safety Standards and Regulations Maintains a current knowledge of and complies with policies and procedures. Education & Experience Diploma in a therapeutic recreation, activity assistant, community recreation program or equivalent qualifications in the Senior Living / Gerontology field preferred Current basic First Aid Certificate Serving it Right Certificate, or willingness to complete. Computer skills with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail etc) Familiarity with Welbi and Yardi EHRx an asset. Minimum one (1) year in a recreational setting Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Willingness to obtain a Class 4 Drivers Licence within six (6) months of employment (partially paid by company) (Optional) Must possess the qualities and attitude that respects and maintains the spirit, dignity and individuality of the residents and employees. Must have the ability to speak and understand English competently and to understand written and oral instructions in English. Self-motivated and able to work independently to organize departmental operations, supervise a team, and evaluate program effectiveness. Must have the ability to teach residents in appropriate activities taking into account their physical and mental capabilities. Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with residents, colleagues, family members and the community. Must have an energetic and positive outlook, and the mental ability to be creative and to stimulate interest and participation of residents in the activity programs Must have the ability to perform significant amounts of physical movement such as lifting, bending, stooping and stretching to safely and efficiently operate all equipment and implement programs that are associated with the duties of the position.
