Job DescriptionJob DescriptionParalegal - Real EstateLocation: Halifax, NS (Onsite – Monday to Friday) Salary: $65,000–$85,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Start Date: ASAP Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its in-house legal team, supporting a diversified real estate portfolio that includes commercial, residential, mixed-use, and hospitality properties. Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel, this role will provide legal and administrative support related to commercial leasing, real estate transactions, corporate governance, and general legal matters.This opportunity is ideal for a resourceful legal professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and quickly adapt within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking initiative with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel.Commercial lease drafting experience is an essential requirement for this position. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, negotiate, and administer commercial and residential lease agreements, including renewals, amendments, assignments, notices, defaults, and related leasing documentation. Prepare, review, and coordinate contracts, legal correspondence, and supporting documentation for a variety of real estate transactions. Provide legal support to internal departments including real estate, asset management, operations, and executive leadership. Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, development projects, construction matters, and vendor agreements. Conduct legal research and summarize findings while identifying legal risks and escalating issues when appropriate. Coordinate with external legal counsel on litigation, disputes, and other legal matters. Support corporate governance activities and regulatory compliance for a publicly traded organization. Maintain legal records, monitor key deadlines, and track contractual obligations. Assist in developing and improving legal templates, policies, and internal processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk. Work collaboratively across departments to provide practical, business-focused legal support. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, or a related discipline. Paralegal designation or equivalent legal experience is considered an asset. Minimum 3 years of legal support experience; 5+ years preferred. Proven experience drafting commercial real estate lease agreements is required. Experience supporting commercial real estate, property management, leasing, hospitality, or related industries is highly preferred. Strong understanding of contracts, commercial transactions, and legal documentation. Excellent legal drafting, proofreading, and document review skills. Ability to interpret legal documents and recognize potential legal or business risks. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
