The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is inviting applications for the role of Quality Improvement (QI) Coach on independent contract for 2027. You are:
a motivated and experienced practising physician with a background in QI and/or coaching methodology and
passionate about self-development and embodying QI principles through your practice, and
a self-directed individual with demonstrated track record of organizing and utilizing your time to complete tasks efficiently and effectively
If this is you, consider joining the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) as an independent contract QI Coach.
As a member of a small, dedicated team, you will be one of approximately 12 QI Coaches who will support registrants participating in CPSO’s QI Programs to enhance their understanding of how to embed QI principles into their practice and to refine their QI goals and objectives.
As a QI Coach, you will be responsible for remotely reviewing submitted Practice Improvement Plans (PIPs), conducting supportive QI Coaching sessions, preparing brief reports, and actively participating in program improvement and related QI activities as specified by QI Program leadership.
CPSO QI Coaches work for approximately 8 hours per week. In addition, you will participate in virtual meetings as requested by Quality program leadership, as well as ad hoc training sessions.
Qualifications
An active practising registrant in good standing with the CPSO
Be in active clinical practice with a minimum of five consecutive years of patient-facing practice experience
Possess sound knowledge of QI principles and aims
Possess sound knowledge of Coaching methodology and aims
Have successfully completed the CPSO QI program in the past and are willing to complete the newest iteration of the program within 3 months of hire.
Previous experience with QI program development, implementation, and/or evaluation is an asset
Bilingual in French and English languages, both in verbal and written communication is an asset
Possess in-depth knowledge of CPSO policies
Promote and uphold a high standard of evidence-based practice
Have a strong sense of professional responsibility demonstrated by a commitment to life-long learning through active participation in continuing professional development
Possess a demonstrated record of being a positive and solutions-focused contributor within a collaborative, team-based environment and ability to maintain the same
Be skilled or experienced in the provision and receipt of constructive feedback
Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills, as well as formal report writing experience
Technological proficiency is required, and experience with EMR system(s) is an asset
Strong analytical skills and an aptitude toward critical thinking are crucial
Self-directed and demonstrated time-management skillset, with ability to manage complex and competing priorities and respond to unique situations as they arise
Additional academic qualifications, e.g., Masters or other qualifications in Quality Improvement are a definite asset
