Job Summary
As Supplier Quality Engineer for Leonardo DRS Canada, you will assist in the execution and delivery of our supplier quality strategy. Accountabilities include providing insight of suppliers, ensuring regulatory requirements aimed at improving the quality of products and services. This role will report on site to the Quality Manager, but work under the Director of Supply Chain. It will be based out of our Bedford, NS site.
As Supplier Quality Engineer, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for quality system development and supporting product and supplier quality improvements.
Develop, maintain and deploy supplier quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities.
Gather, organize, monitor, analyze and report on information on suppliers, products and processes.
Provide ongoing supplier quality system support to include performing internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actions
Participate on product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards
Evaluate and dispose of non-conforming material during receiving inspection
FAI coordination/reviews
Execute SCAR process, MRB, DRs, RTV Coordination, Control of Changes at suppliers (DRS and supplier caused)
IPT Support
Execute Supplier surveillance audits
Partner with Supply Chain to Identify Quality risks on material and manage risks
Provide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel to include executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, specifying appropriate sampling plans, interpreting and revising specifications, and processing non-conforming materials
Assist in resolving customer and supplier quality issues
Leading technical discussions between suppliers and DRS for supplier caused issues
Initiate and drive root cause and corrective process and product quality issues
Participate in supplier selection and improvement processes
Assist with on-site audits, evaluating prototypes and reviewing and approving of supplier corrective actions
Prepare supplier quality engineering reports and recommendations
Provide regular reporting of progress and status
Support, communicate reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
What you require to be successful in the role:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 4+ years of supplier quality experience
Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
Experienced with ISO and AS Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
Technical expertise and application domain knowledge
ASQ certification
Ability to work independently and to provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians and inspectors
Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints and drawings
Ability to travel to suppliers for audits and inspections
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
Proven ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
Ability to analyse and execute projects independently
Ability to communicate clearly
