This role offers an excellent opportunity to build strong expertise in property accounting within a dynamic real estate environment. You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles while ensuring compliance with established accounting standards. Working closely with property managers and cross-functional teams, you will help maintain financial integrity across a portfolio of assets. The position combines hands-on accounting execution with analytical work, including variance analysis, reconciliations, and reporting. You will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and tenant-related financial processes such as recoveries and lease accounting. This is a detail-oriented role suited for someone who thrives in a structured yet collaborative environment and is eager to grow within real estate finance.
Accountabilities:
You will manage core property accounting activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting across assigned assets:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and perform detailed variance analysis with clear explanations
Maintain general ledger reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items
Record and review accounting journal entries including accruals, amortization, depreciation, and adjustments
Process and review accounts payable items such as taxes, audit fees, and regulatory remittances
Support preparation of property budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities
Calculate tenant recoveries including CAM, taxes, utilities, and straight-line rent adjustments
Prepare tenant billing, lease-related financial setups, and cash flow projections
Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and process improvement initiatives across the portfolio
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and experience in real estate or property finance:
2+ years of property accounting or related accounting experience
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with real estate systems (Yardi preferred)
Knowledge of budgeting, reconciliations, accruals, and lease accounting concepts
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and explain variances
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and a high level of professionalism and integrity
CPA enrollment or pursuit considered an asset
