is recruiting for a
Project Procurement Specialist
to support major capital projects within a large industrial environment. This role will work closely with project teams and construction partners to oversee procurement strategy, execution, and vendor management across the full project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will help ensure procurement activities are aligned with project timelines, commercial objectives, and execution plans while providing oversight and guidance to external engineering and project delivery partners.
This is a contract opportunity based in Vancouver with a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
Support capital projects through all phases of procurement planning and execution
Develop procurement strategies and project-specific procurement plans
Prepare and manage RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, recommendations, and purchase orders
Oversee the procurement activities of EPC partners and provide constructive feedback where required
Coordinate closely with project managers, legal teams, and other internal stakeholders
Monitor procurement schedules and identify activities that may impact the project critical path
Lead procurement meetings, track action items, and maintain accurate documentation
Review supplier performance, contracts, and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
Support long-lead equipment procurement and transition activities to EPCM teams when required
Assist with change management, claims evaluation, and commercial issue resolution
Maintain procurement records, supplier information, and lessons learned documentation
Contribute to the development of procurement processes, tools, and best practices
Build strong working relationships across project teams through effective communication and collaboration
Requirements
8+ years of project procurement experience within mining, heavy industrial, oil and gas, or major project environments
Government / Public procurement experience an asset
Experience working with EPCM firms or owner-side project teams is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of capital equipment procurement and project execution
Proven experience managing purchase orders, negotiations, and contract change management
Ability to develop procurement strategies and oversee complex procurement workflows
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify project risks and procurement gaps
Experience supporting major projects within mining, process plant, or heavy industry settings
Understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, and supplier coordination
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and influence stakeholders
Comfortable operating in a collaborative, low-micromanagement environment
Proficiency with ERP procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications
Undergraduate degree in a related field
Ability to travel occasionally to project sites as required
Remuneration
Hourly rate target of approximately $65 - $75 per hour depending on experience
Hybrid work arrangement with approximately 2-3 days per week in office
