Job DescriptionJob Description Project Manager – Building Engineering Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a Building Engineering team focused on improving the performance, durability, and longevity of existing and new buildings. This role is ideal for a professional with experience in building science, structural restoration, and project management who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while leading projects from inception through construction. The successful candidate will manage multiple building engineering projects, support business development initiatives, mentor junior staff, and build strong client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Identify business development opportunities and support the preparation of proposals to secure new projects. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members while contributing to the development of internal technical standards and best practices. Conduct building investigations and prepare technical reports for: Parking structures Roofing systems Building envelope assessments Water leakage investigations Building condition assessments Prepare technical specifications and manage the tendering and procurement process. Manage projects through all phases, including investigation, design, specification development, tendering, construction, and project closeout. Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery. Prepare accurate project invoicing, monitor receivables, and maintain overall project financial performance. Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering high-quality service and identifying opportunities for future work. Participate in workload planning and resource forecasting to support business objectives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical and effective engineering solutions. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Building Science or Structural Restoration, or a degree in Building Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in building science, building envelope consulting, or restoration engineering within a consulting environment. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration is considered an asset. Strong technical knowledge of building envelope systems, restoration projects, and building condition assessments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations. Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities. Proven problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Experience with energy modeling is considered an asset. Comfortable performing site inspections, including work at heights. Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as required. Preferred Skills Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects. Knowledge of building performance, durability, and sustainability principles. Strong client relationship management and business development skills. Financial management experience, including project budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing. Work Environment This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of building engineering projects, including commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, and public sector facilities. The role involves a combination of office-based work, collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams, and field inspections at active construction and existing building sites. Candidates should be comfortable conducting site visits in varying weather conditions and accessing roofs, elevated work areas, and other locations as required for building assessments.
