Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Director, this role provides administrative support to the overall Youth Supportive Housing (YHS) Program and MCFD program. The Program Coordinator offers guidance on youth care plans, program delivery, policy and procedure implementation, and provides light support and coaching to both staff and youth to promote consistency, stability, and positive outcomes. The role also provides administrative support to the program Managers of Youth Supportive Housing.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the YSH program in achieving and maintaining SHSS compliance and supports preparation for accreditation by coordinating documentation, policies, and processes aligned with required standards.
This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The hourly wage range is $29.00-$33.62 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.
Education & Experience
Possess an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field
2+ years of program coordination experience overseeing programs or services within the non-profit sector.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience facilitating groups and coordinating group events.
Theoretical and working knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, and Housing First principles and practices.
Knowledge of current best practices and experience in public and mental health.
Content expertise about youth homelessness and youth recovery.
Experience with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
In addition to these qualifications, the ideal candidate will be creative, organized, strategic, and collegial; a self-starter with a sense of urgency and a bias toward execution.
Working Conditions
This role requires working at multiple housing locations operated by the Society within the Greater Victoria area to maintain consistent coverage across the youth supportive housing program.
This position works within a dynamic environment where the needs and behaviours of youth may be unpredictable at times. Exposure to emotionally charged or confrontational situations can occur, requiring sound judgement, effective de-escalation techniques, and a trauma-informed approach to support safety.
Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team.
On-call duties required.
Special Requirements
Immunization records, including TB testing
Emergency 1st Aid certificate
ASIST training
NVCI training
Valid drivers license, clean drivers abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance (business level)
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check completed by and satisfactory to Threshold, and subject to regular review
Up-to date membership in relevant professional association or societies
