The Opportunity:
Sault College is seeking a full-time professor to support delivery within our Motive Power programs, with a focus on Heavy Equipment apprenticeship training and post-secondary education.
This role is ideal for an experienced Heavy Equipment professional who is passionate about the trade and interested in helping students develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional standards needed to succeed in industry.
As part of the School of Trades, Technology & Apprenticeship, the successful candidate will contribute to classroom, shop, and lab instruction while helping support program quality, student success, and curriculum development.
What You'll teach
Instruction may include:
Heavy equipment apprenticeship training across multiple levels
Post-secondary Motive Power courses and shop instruction
Heavy equipment systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair
Hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, and engine systems
Shop safety, troubleshooting, and industry-standard work practices
Courses combine classroom instruction with applied shop and lab learning.
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking individuals who:
Hold a Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Equipment Tech (421A) – Red Seal
Hold a Certificate of Apprenticeship in Heavy Equipment Technician and/or Truck and Coach Technician
Hold a Diploma or Certificate in Heavy Equipment and/or Truck and Coach Technician, or equivalent post-secondary education
Have a minimum of five years of recent industry experience as a journeyperson in the Heavy Equipment trade
Strong communication skills and instructional skills, with the ability to connect theory to practical application
Experience mentoring or training apprentices in the workplace is an asset
Curriculum development or instructional experience is an asset
Experience using digital tools and learning technologies is an asset
What You'll Do:
Deliver instruction in classroom, shop, and lab environments
Demonstrate equipment, tools, and procedures safely and effectively
Evaluate student progress through practical and theoretical assessments
Participate in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively with faculty, coordinators, and support teams

This is a full-time position, up to 44 hours/week. Pay range is $77,153 - $133,752 annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
