Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Production Worker (Afternoon Layup) Job Description This role supports a busy manufacturing operation that produces interior and bifold doors by preparing, assembling, and pressing door components in a fast-paced production environment. You will work on the afternoon shift, performing repetitive, hands-on tasks that require physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety and quality. The position is ideal for someone reliable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with tools, machinery, and industrial materials as part of a collaborative production team. Responsibilities Assemble and lay up door components according to production specifications and work instructions. Load and position door skins, frames, cores, and other materials into assembly fixtures or presses. Apply adhesives accurately and ensure proper alignment of materials before pressing. Operate manufacturing equipment, including conveyors, pneumatic tools, and presses, in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect doors for quality issues such as misalignment, insufficient glue coverage, surface defects, and damage, and take appropriate corrective actions. Stack, move, and prepare completed products for the next stage of production or packaging. Maintain the required production pace while consistently following safety and quality standards. Perform basic housekeeping duties and keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Follow all plant safety procedures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and lockout/tagout practices where applicable. Work collaboratively with team members, leads, and supervisors to meet daily production targets and support continuous improvement. Use tape measures, hand tools, and power tools accurately and safely during assembly and layup tasks. Repetitively lift materials and products up to 50 lbs as part of daily production activities. Assist with basic machine operation and support the smooth flow of products along the production line. Essential Skills At least 6+ months of experience in general labor, construction, production, manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced, repetitive work environment, which may include experience in high-volume service roles. At least 6+ months of experience using a tape measure accurately in a work setting. Experience working with hand tools and power tools in an industrial, construction, or production environment. Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods. Comfort working with repetitive tasks in a high-volume production setting. Reliable transportation to and from the work site. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic. Ability to follow detailed instructions and production specifications with attention to quality and safety. Comfort operating or working around industrial machinery, conveyors, and pneumatic tools. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a structured production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Basic equipment knowledge and the ability to perform simple troubleshooting tasks. Mechanical aptitude and an interest in how equipment and production processes work. Experience in door manufacturing or related building products production. Willingness to learn new processes, tools, and equipment. Team player attitude with strong communication and collaboration skills. Work Environment This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility that produces interior and bifold doors, with approximately 60 assemblers and a total workforce of around 80–100 employees. The environment is loud, dusty, and fast-paced, with repetitive physical work that involves lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods. You will work in a team-oriented production setting where personal protective equipment is mandatory, including safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other PPE as required. The position is on the second shift, running Monday to Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. in 10-hour shifts. The dress code requires appropriate safety footwear and full-length pants in the production area, with no shorts allowed. Loose clothing and accessories that could be caught in machinery, such as watches, bracelets, rings, long necklaces, or dangling earrings, must not be worn. Medic-alert necklaces are allowed if tucked under a shirt, while medic-alert bracelets are not permitted but their tags may be worn on a necklace. Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied up or secured under a hat, and hats are acceptable if they do not create a safety hazard. The facility provides required PPE such as ear plugs, safety glasses, and safety vests to support a safe and compliant work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chilliwack, BC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
