Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Production Associate Wage: $25.58/hr Job Description This seasonal Production Associate role runs until the end of November with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position. You will work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment handling pipe products, operating equipment, and using a variety of hand and power tools. The position involves rotating 12-hour continental shifts, frequent heavy lifting, and close attention to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Load and unload pipe from production machines safely and efficiently. Visually inspect pipe for defects and verify dimensions using a custom measuring tool. Build sturdy shipping crates for pipe using hand and power tools, including hammers, nail guns, reciprocating saws, and chop saws. Band and package bundles of pipe to prepare them for shipment. Lift 15–30 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Use a measuring tape in both imperial and metric units and read measurements down to 1/8 of an inch and in centimeters. Operate an overhead crane and forklift after receiving proper training and certification. Secure wood tops on pipe frames using hammers and nail guns to finish individual crates. Cut pipe using saws during start-up, power failures, or when clearing tanks. Use various sizes and types of wrenches to make adjustments to machines throughout the day. Perform basic quality control checks to ensure products meet specifications. Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment. Work effectively on a rotating continental shift schedule, including days and nights. Collaborate with a partner or work independently as required to meet production targets. Maintain a clean and organized work area and support general production and machine operation tasks as needed. Essential Skills At least 6+ months of experience using hand and power tools, including hammers, nail guns, wrenches, reciprocating saws, and chop saws. At least 6+ months of experience in a production or general labor role within a heavy industrial environment. Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/8 of an inch and in centimeters. Strong basic math skills to support measuring, counting, and simple calculations. Ability to perform heavy lifting, including repetitive lifting of 15–30 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Comfort working a rotating continental schedule with 12-hour day and night shifts. Experience with general production, machine operation, and quality control tasks. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and a tape measure safely and effectively. Willingness to train on and operate forklifts and overhead cranes once certified. Reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety in a heavy industrial setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience is an asset. Overhead crane experience is an asset. First Aid training or certification is an asset. Experience in heavy industrial or unionized environments is beneficial. Work Environment You will work at a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that produces pipe products. The environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, with a constant humming noise from machines, so hearing protection is required. Each shift typically includes a team of about 16 people, and you may work either with a partner or independently depending on the task. This is a union facility where employees pay an initial one-time union fee and ongoing monthly union dues through payroll deduction. The role follows a continental shift pattern with 12-hour shifts rotating between days (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and nights (8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) every two weeks. Over a two-week period, you work 84 hours, with 80 hours paid at the regular rate and 4 hours paid at double time, and there is frequent opportunity for additional overtime. The dress code requires steel toe work boots, with ear plugs, eye protection, and gloves provided as needed; employees may wear their own coveralls if they choose.
