About the opportunity:
As a Privacy Practice Analyst at CLBC, you will independently undertake technical analysis functions, consulting with senior staff on projects within identified sectors or portfolios. This role functions within delegated authority under FOIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) and the principles of administrative fairness and common law. The position interacts with and maintains relationships with, a wide range of internal and external contacts.
You will support the Manager's role in ensuring that CLBC complies with its requirements as a separate public body under FOIPPA. This includes but is not limited to:
Ensuring that privacy requirements are met and in responding to FOIPPA requests
Responding directly to individuals, families about complaints related to the way their personal information has been handled
Providing information to the Director, Quality Assurance on trends in practice to promote improvements
Communicating with external bodies as needed to ensure appropriate responses to requests
Providing practice support and advice to field staff on privacy or information requests
Providing and/or arranging for training or practice forums for CLBC staff
Other responsibilities include:
Serving as the subject matter expert to CLBC's business units by providing support and guidance to CLBC managers, staff and service providers related to privacy and information requests
Leading and coordinating investigations of privacy incidents by responding to, and managing information incidents and privacy breaches including investigations, notifications, and developing follow-up recommendations
Monitoring and continuously improving CLBC's program inclusive of developing policies and procedures including standards, forms, and agreements that support CLBC's privacy initiatives
Monitoring news, events, laws and regulations, and communication compliance requirements to various stakeholders.
Collaborating with Regional Operations, Information Management, Human Resources and various teams to support CLBC's privacy during program development to support compliance with new and existing policy and procedures
What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Services, Law, Public Administration, Information Management, Communications, or a related degree
A minimum of three years of experience in a senior policy/program analyst position, with at least one year of focus on privacy within a complex, organizational environment
One year minimum of focus on privacy within a complex, organizational environment is preferred
CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) designation is preferred
We are also looking for:
Expert knowledge of FOIPPA, including information access, the release of information, and implementation of control technologies as they apply to privacy information contained in electronic and non-electronic media
Ability to interpret privacy concepts and requirements in light of diverse business functions and operational activities
Knowledge of CLBC internal processes, policies and programs to understand practice issues as it relates to privacy and access to information
Exceptional critical thinking skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Extremely responsive and able to manage competing priorities
Strong knowledge of the MS Office, ability to build and maintain a database and use appropriate software to redact information from documents
Additional Info:
Limited travel within region. Possession of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract is required
