Reporting to the Privacy and FOI Compliance Manager (the ‘Manager’), the Privacy Auditing and Investigations Analyst (the ‘Analyst’) contributes to the on-going development and improvement of Providence Care’s Privacy Program by maintaining data and information standards (e.g., methodologies, indicators, statistics), preparing relevant documentation, providing client support, assessing data quality, generating and translating audits, fulfilling custom auditing requests, conducting analysis to support the production of key deliverables for internal and external dissemination. Working with the Manager, the Analyst will maintain detailed knowledge of data, tools, and analytical techniques used to produce standard and ad-hoc outputs, including but not limited to breach investigations, privacy threshold analysis documentation, privacy impact assessments and risk registers related to same. The Analyst applies expertise and understanding of Providence Care’s obligations under relevant legislation and regulations, e.g.
Personal Health Information Protection Act
(PHIPA),
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
(FIPPA), and organizational policies and procedures. The Analyst works closely with the Manager to ensure the rights and obligations of the organization and the people we serve are fulfilled and compliance with the law.
Education & Experience
Undergraduate Degree and/or College Diploma in Business Administration, Computer Science, Health Informatics or related field, combined with a minimum of three to five years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in healthcare
An equivalent combination of education and work experience demonstrating systems thinking to effectively synthesize complex analyses and present clear, actionable findings and reports for diverse audiences
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Promotes the organization’s defined scope of the privacy program including its privacy data governance framework, which includes privacy policies and procedures; Privacy by Design (PbD) methodology; processes of monitoring and responding to the regulatory environment – including legislative and regulatory change
Fulfills day-to-day privacy operations to meet legal requirements and the expectations of programs and services and the people we serve
Contributes to the on-going development and evolution of the Privacy and FOI department by proactively bringing best practice, emerging trends, and analysis of relevant jurisprudence to practices that contribute to the achievement of organizational and departmental goals and priorities
Conducts privacy-related investigations including conducting appropriate interviews with key interest-holders, gathers and prepares evidence and exhibits, develops draft finding(s); and advises the Manager on draft response/course of action to ensure appropriateness, defensibility, and consistency with legislation/regulations
Conducts breach-risk assessments, collecting and analyzing relevant information to develop an outline of options and impacts, and presents analysis, risks, and options to the Manager to ensure appropriateness, defensibility, and consistency with legislation/regulations
