Job Requisition ID # 26WD98574 Position Overview At Autodesk, we help our customers design and make anything. Within Autodesk Construction, that mission comes to life through products that help construction teams coordinate complex work, connect project data, and deliver better outcomes across the building lifecycle. As part of Autodesk Forma (Autodesk 2019s construction platform), the Construction AI team is shaping how AI-powered product experiences can help make that work simpler, smarter, and more connected. Our work focuses on bringing AI into real customer workflows, helping teams understand project context, reduce errors, make better decisions, and move work forward with greater clarity. We are looking for designers who are excited to work in a quick-evolving AI product space where capabilities, customer expectations, and experience patterns are still being defined. We are seeking a Principal Experience Designer, Construction AI, to help shape the future of AI-powered experiences within Autodesk Construction. This is a highly strategic individual contributor role focused on defining longer-term experience direction while staying hands-on in the design of real product experiences across Construction products and services. Reporting to the Director of Experience Design, you will partner closely with Design, Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, and AI teams across Autodesk Construction and the broader Autodesk organization. You will translate emerging AI capabilities, complex workflows, and evolving customer needs into clear, useful, and scalable product experiences. This role requires a designer who can work through ambiguity, connect patterns across fast-moving initiatives, influence product direction, and bring clarity to complex problem spaces. You should be comfortable working in an environment where technology, customer expectations, and priorities are evolving quickly — bringing systems thinking, strong craft, and practical momentum to the work. Travel Quarterly, North America, India, Europe for team meetings, conferences and customer engagements. Required To be considered candidates must include a resume and portfolio with password/access. Responsibilities Shape the longer-term experience direction for AI-powered experiences across Autodesk Construction products and services Translate emerging AI capabilities, complex workflows, customer needs, and system behaviors into clear product experience strategies and design solutions Lead strategic design work from early exploration through execution, including concepts, flows, prototypes, interaction models, and detailed product designs Identify experience patterns, gaps, and opportunities across AI initiatives, helping teams make more coherent and scalable product decisions Influence product roadmap and prioritization by bringing a clear point of view on customer needs, workflow complexity, usability, trust, and experience quality Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, and AI teams to align on direction, make informed tradeoffs, and move work forward in ambiguous problem spaces Design experiences that help customers understand, guide, refine, and trust AI-powered product behavior Create compelling artifacts such as journey maps, system models, prototypes, product concepts, and experience narratives to build alignment and support decision-making Raise the quality of design thinking and execution through collaboration, critique, strong craft, and shared ways of working Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of professional experience in experience design, product design, UX, or a related field, with a strong portfolio demonstrating impact on complex digital products Experience designing AI-powered product experiences, including experiences that involve automation, intelligent systems, data-rich workflows, or adaptive product behavior Proven ability to define experience strategy and influence product direction beyond feature-level design Deep experience translating complex user needs, product requirements, and system behaviors into intuitive, scalable interaction models for complex, workflow-heavy, or enterprise product experiences Strong design craft across interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and prototyping Ability to drive alignment and influence product direction across cross-functional and cross-organizational partners Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale, tradeoffs, and customer impact Preferred Qualifications Experience working with emerging AI capabilities in complex product environments where patterns, system behavior, and customer expectations are still being defined Interest or background in AEC, construction technology, or complex project-based domains Salary transparency Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $95,300 and $170,500. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
