Headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, we are a privately held company focused on building practical, reliable systems that solve real-world problems. // Position Overview We’re looking for a platform engineer to build and operate the systems our software depends on. You’ll own the pipelines, services, and infrastructure that take work from prototype to dependable, production-grade operation, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and performance. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating with autonomy, can work through ambiguity, and takes ownership of their work end to end. You’ll contribute hands-on, participate in architectural decisions, and help set the standards for how production systems are built and run. // Duties and Responsibilities Build, operate, and maintain the pipelines, services, and infrastructure that support production workloads Take features and components from concept through deployment, owning them end to end Design for reliability, scalability, and performance under real-world conditions Develop and maintain testing, monitoring, and observability so issues are caught early Debug and resolve issues across the system, including production environments when needed Collaborate with teammates to break down problems, define requirements, and iterate on solutions Contribute to improving development workflows, tooling, and overall engineering practices Requirements // Tech Stack Backend: Python, Java (Spring Boot), C and C++ Python tooling: pydantic, FastAPI, asyncio, pytest Frontend: TypeScript, Angular Data: PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB Streaming and orchestration: Kafka, Flink Infrastructure: Linux (Ubuntu), Docker, CI/CD Tools: JIRA, Bitbucket // Required Skills / Experience 5+ years of experience building and operating production software or data systems Strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering Experience building and maintaining pipelines, services, or distributed systems Comfortable working across backend services, data, and infrastructure Experience with real-time, streaming, or high-throughput systems Experience working with machine learning or AI-driven systems, including integrating or operationalizing models Experience writing clean, testable, and maintainable code Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Effective communication and collaboration in a team environment // Nice to haves Experience with high-availability and performance optimization Familiarity with workflow orchestration and scheduling Familiarity with streaming frameworks such as Kafka or Flink Familiarity with networking concepts (a strong plus in our domain) // Why join Providius Work on systems that operate in real-time, high-stakes environments Small team with high ownership and direct impact Opportunity to grow into architecture and technical leadership Benefits Benefits Dental care Extended health care On-site parking Paid time off Vision care
