Pipe Welder - permanent position DAYS $35/hr to $39/hr to start
LOCATION: Scarborough, Ontario
Qualifications:
6G TSSA Pipe Welding TIG Certification an asset; other weld certifications also an asset
Skills in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding processes
Minimum 1 year of pipe welding experience
Ability to weld pipe in the 6G position
Strong understanding of welding preparations, fit-up, tacking, root passes, fill passes, and cap passes
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and welding symbols
Good knowledge of hand and power tools
Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment and perform basic repairs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Professional, punctual, dependable, and safety conscious
Requirements:
Responsible for fabricating and welding piping assemblies and spools according to engineering drawings, welding procedures, specifications, and quality requirements
TIG welding of pipe, including open-root pipe joints; may also do some MIG welding of structural frames and other components when required
TIG weld carbon steel and stainless steel piping and pipe stools
Prepare, fit-up, align, tack, and weld pipe joints according to drawings, specs, and welding procedures
Perform open-root welding and maintain proper root penetration and weld profile
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, dimensions, and work instructions
Select and prepare appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and tools for each job
Inspect welds visually and identify defects or conditions requiring correction
Perform grinding, cleaning, and preparation of joints before and after welding
Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, pipe stands, welding positioners, and other equipment safely
Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment when required and authorized
Troubleshoot welding equipment and perform basic repairs or adjustments
Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe operation condition
Follow all applicable welding procedures, company quality requirements, and supervisor instructions
Other duties as they may be assigned by Supervisor
