Position: Pool Pilot – Aviation Department.
The role requires flexibility in scheduling and travel to any STARS base with less than 24 hours’ notice to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC). Pilots are expected to be employable at any STARS base for up to 14 days and may be subject to an extension of up to 42 days at a time due to unforeseen operational requirements. Pilots must be available for the AH145 training course start date: August 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Safely and effectively pilot STARS aircraft.
Maintain a category 1 aviation medical.
Maintain currency and proficiency with respect to:
Aircraft flown
Regulations
Publications
Training standards
Licensing requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Current aircraft captain or eligible to upgrade to captain within 6 months.
A valid Commercial Rotary Wing Licence.
Minimum of 1,000 hours of helicopter experience.
Multi‑Engine and Night/IFR experience desirable.
Helicopter Airline Transport Licence exams completed.
Group 4 Instrument rating and Helicopter Night Ratings required.
Valid Class 1 medical.
Airbus H145 type rating considered an asset.
Ability to successfully complete the Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application for Night Vision Goggle purposes.
Immunization records with required vaccinations.
Work a schedule of day and night shifts to support 24/7/365 patient care missions.
