Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, to patients. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Understand all physician orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure 100% accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. + Package specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity. + Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and procedures. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results for inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed. + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Copy or photo of High School Diploma or GED required prior to submittal. + Experience in insurance verification, possible payment collections, and specimen preparation and shipping. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, typically within a lab or hospital setting. You will use various technologies and equipment to perform tasks. Adherence to safety regulations and protocols is required to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure a safe work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Waco, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.63/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
