Job DescriptionJob Description A new Pharmacy is Calgary, Alberta is seeking a licensed pharmacist to serve as the pharmacy's Licensee (Pharmacist Manager / Pharmacist-in-Charge). This is a foundational hire and the successful candidate will lead the pharmacy through ACP's pre-opening application and inspection process and will take on day-to-day clinical and operational leadership once open. Key Responsibilities : Licensure & compliance: Act as the pharmacy's licensee, holding the ACP pharmacy licence and ensuring full compliance with the Pharmacy and Drug Act, the ACP Code of Ethics, and the Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies. Opening process: Support the ACP letter of intent and licence application process under the Pharmacy Corp , including floor plan review, foundational requirements checklist, and the pre-opening inspection. Day-to-day oversight: Maintain an active, regular presence at the pharmacy to personally manage, control, and supervise operations, staff, and patient care. Clinical practice: Provide direct patient care, including dispensing, medication reviews, prescribing/adaptations where authorized, and immunizations, consistent with ACP scope of practice. Team leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; assign a Temporary Pharmacist in Charge (TPIC) for any planned absence under 60 days. Operations: Oversee drug procurement, inventory, storage, and record-keeping; ensure security, privacy, and quality assurance standards are met. Regulatory liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact with ACP for licensure, inspections, and ongoing regulatory correspondence. Business collaboration: Work closely with the proprietor/owner on business planning and operations while retaining independent professional and clinical authority as required by law. Required Qualifications : Registration: Active, unrestricted registration on ACP's clinical pharmacist register, in good standing (no conditions, restrictions, or unresolved complaints/discipline). Licensee eligibility: Meets at least two of ACP's licensee criteria e.g., 2+ consecutive years on the clinical pharmacist register (Alberta or another Canadian jurisdiction), 1+ year of prior licensee (or equivalent) experience within the last 5 years with no discipline history, or 2+ years as a pharmacy proprietor in Alberta within the last 10 years with no discipline history. Background check: Able to provide a current Enhanced Police Information Check (completed within 6 months of application). Required training: Willing and able to complete ACP's Licensee Education Program (Licensee Fundamentals) prior to the licence application, if not already completed. Insurance: Holds (or is able to obtain) a minimum of $2 million in personal professional liability insurance. Standing: No restrictions on practice permit and no requirement for assessment under the Health Professions Act.
