Foundation Health Job Description
Personal Support Workers (PSWs) provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness.
Please note that this position is for agency staffing support with the potential of homecare services.
The role will include:
Assisting clients with personal care such as bathing and dressing
Providing companionship
Taking clients for outings or exercise
Performing basic meal preparation
Performing light housekeeping duties such as washing dishes, taking out the garbage, doing patient's laundry, vacuuming and dusting
Providing respite while the primary caregiver is out of the home
Reminding clients about their medication
Taking clients to appointments or shopping
Being a part of the client's total care program
Act upon delegated tasks as required within your scope of practice
This role will be direct in clients home or at a care facility
Qualifications
Have one of the following qualifications:
Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
RN/RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
Holds a valid certificate as a Home Support Worker (level II or III), Health Care Aide, or Personal Attendant
Holds a valid certificate as a Developmental Support Worker
Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician
The position may require daily travel of more than 30 minutes, so 100% must have a vehicle.
Candidates without a vehicle will not be considered.
Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car
Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
Clear criminal background check, and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
Ability to use phone applications
Requirements

Submission of proof of
three COVID vaccinations
TB test completed
within 6 months to a year
Immunization record
Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
