Overview Are you a data analyst with HR expertise or a human resources practitioner with a knack for data? These roles provide an excellent opportunity to build on your analytical and problem-solving skills in an active, large organization. You'll be part of a central team that provides reporting and analysis on all areas of HR using identified data sets, including understanding the business questions of clients, identifying the right data to answer those questions, and analyzing that data to provide insight. We have two opportunities for People & Culture Specialists within our People Analytics team, one for 7 months and another for 18 months. One position focuses primarily on providing advisory services, consulting with business clients and presenting insights and analyses on various topics, while the other is primarily technical, focused on developing and maintaining queries, datasets, and Power BI solutions. However, both positions require both an advisory and a technical mindset and will work cross-functionally. Where you'll work At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position. What you'll do With direction from the Manager of People Analytics, you will work with clients to understand their needs and provide complex reporting and analysis on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis The advisory-focused position will primarily: Explore and retrieve data by writing SQL queries and using various other system-specific tools, including PeopleSoft Query and Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) Work directly with our internal P&C teams and business clients to provide them with insights and analyses that address their business questions in a way that impactfully communicates the story of what is happening Identify, develop, define, document, and manage distribution of metrics, measures, and KPIs via annual and quarterly reports for all areas of People & Culture As our analytics practice matures in the future, collaborate with the technical team in the development of predictive analytics and statistical models The technical-focused position will primarily: Construct data models and develop reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI Explore and retrieve data by writing SQL queries and using various other system-specific tools, including PeopleSoft Query and Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) Partner with our information & technology team to ensure new data sets are brought into the cloud data warehouse and new views and tables are built to enable effective and accurate analysis Maintain security access roles and technical documentation for all Power BI solutions as well as source system tables and fields As our analytics practice matures in the future, collaborate with the advisory team in the development of predictive analytics and statistical models As required, the advisory-focused position will take on technical duties, while the technical-focused position will take on advisory duties. Your background and experience A degree or a diploma in human resources, data science, computer science, business technology management, information systems, business analytics, or a related discipline At least 5 years of experience in a human resources role, including at least 3 years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably in the public sector or a large unionized setting Proficient in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint and Teams Intermediate skills in Excel (filtering, pivot tables, formulas including SUM, SUMIF, AVERAGE, VLOOKUP, IF, INDEX MATCH, etc.) Exposure to an HRIS system (PeopleSoft/Oracle preferred) and knowledge of HR metrics and reporting principles Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or a similar SQL development environment is required for both positions Good working knowledge of relational database concepts and best practices, along with intermediate skills in Power BI or a similar business intelligence tool, is an asset for the advisory position and a requirement for the technical position CPHR designation (or working towards completion) is an asset We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.
