Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $24to $29 per hour Leq:mel First Nation (LFN) is located 22 kilometres east of Mission, British Columbia. LFN continues to assert its inherent right of self-government over its Territory, which covers a vast area of the Lower Mainland. LFN has approximately 800 Leq:mel Xwlmexw (People) and is governed by Chief and Council through its Custom Election Code. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of Leq:mel culture and traditions, or a willingness to learn. Join Our Team Leq:mel First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll and Accounting Clerk to support the Finance Department. This position is responsible for the accurate processing of payroll and assisting with a variety of accounting and administrative functions. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. What You Will Do Key Duties and Responsibilities Payroll and Accounting Support Process bi-weekly payroll, payroll remittances, deductions, T4s, and Records of Employment. Maintain payroll and financial records and update employee payroll information. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, bank deposits, and cheque processing. Process invoices, expense claims, and accounts payable cheque runs. Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, suppliers, and community members. Support financial reporting, audits, filing, records management, and general administrative duties. Perform other related duties as assigned. What Were Looking For The ideal candidate will bring: Education and Experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (certificate or diploma preferred). Two to three years of experience in payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration. Experience working for a First Nation organization in an accounting capacity is an asset. Licences and Screening Acceptable Criminal Record Check. Skills and Competencies Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with payroll software (Ceridian/Power Pay preferred). Knowledge of accounting processes, including AP, AR, and general ledger functions. Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Working Conditions Work is performed on-site in an office environment using standard office equipment. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll-related deadlines. Regular interaction with employees, suppliers, and community members requires professionalism and discretion.
