Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a vibrant, non-profit Christian organization leading a collective movement to end chronic poverty in Toronto.

The Opportunity:
YSM is seeking a
Patient Services Administrator
who will provide excellent, welcoming, efficient and professional receptionist and client referral support at the Evergreen Health Centre. The incumbent will work
full time, for 37.5 hours per week
. The successful candidate will further develop skills in building relationships with hard-to-reach populations, crisis intervention and conflict management, empowering and assisting community members towards their goals.
Responsibilities:
Provide a welcoming and warm atmosphere to community members, volunteers, students and staff
Ensure privacy and confidentiality
Manage the flow of the reception area, directing visitors, contractors and deliveries
Manage conflict and ensure safety
Manage and answer calls, emails, faxes, mail and redirect as necessary
Schedule and coordinate clinic appointments with community members, volunteers and staff
Manage wait lists, screening, intake and registration of new patients
Support with volunteer needs including check-in and preparing clinical rooms
Input and update data in several databases including Google sheets, Paradigm, CHR EMR, OSCAR EMR and Salesforce
Ensure accurate data entry and documentation
Process health record requests
Keep informed of and outreach to community resources
Connect community members to internal and external resources
Collaborate with internal and external partners
Maintain infection prevention and control measures
Provide administrative support to the health centre
Process forms, gifts-in-kind donations and courier/mail deliveries
Be an active team member of the wider YSM community
Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YSM policies and procedures; including assessing when to call for assistance
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in reception work or office administration in a medical environment
Medical office administration certification an asset
Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized populations
Experience working in a walk-in urgent care setting
Excellent working knowledge of EMRs, Salesforce, MS Office software, Google Drive etc.
Good telephone voice, tactful, diplomatic and friendly
Strong verbal and written business English communication skills
Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Prompt, reliable, adaptable, self-motivated, conscientious and innovative
Experience working in a multicultural, multi-faith setting, and those with multiple challenges
Ability to keep composure and prioritize effectively during high-stress periods and situations
Ability to professionally and compassionately handle confidential, sensitive material
Training in crisis prevention intervention, trauma-informed care, and CPR First Aid is an asset
A demonstrated personal commitment to the principles of faith values and mission of YSM
A Police Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required
Compensation:
YSM offers market competitive rates and will pay a starting salary of
$44,156.55
for this role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.
