PART TIME DRIVER
$17.81 per hour
Contract: September 9, 2026, to September 10, 2027
Schedule: Two shifts per week (minimum 5 hours per shift), including FRIDAYS, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts
The Role:

You’ll provide safe, reliable transportation to medical appointments, day programs, shopping trips, and other essential errands while delivering exceptional customer service and compassionate support.

What You’ll Do
Transportation Services
Provides safe transportation of clients to medical appointments, day programs, and other errands following assigned routes provided by the Scheduler
Assists clients in and out of the vehicle and escorts them safely inside the building when required
Assists clients with carrying items such as groceries and walker, as needed
Maintains positive and friendly communication with clients throughout transport
Picks up Meals on Wheels meals from designated locations and delivers them to various depots; collects empty meal bags and related delivery materials and returns them to the office for cleaning and preparation for reuse
Instructs and liaises with volunteers at meal depots about which bags to take and ensures all routes are correctly distributed
Delivers flyers, mail and other supplies between locations, as required
Completes other related department needs/tasks as required by supervisor or delegated authority
Shopping Services
Completes grocery list and escorted shops at a variety of grocery stores throughout Waterloo Region that are assigned to their vehicle by the Scheduler
Either picks up client’s grocery list before shop, or calls client to obtain list of items requested, confirming client’s requests and inquiring for detail
Speaks with clients and responds to questions regarding substitutions and items not available.
Maintains positive and friendly communication with clients throughout the shop
Hand picks items on clients’ lists, ensures items are properly placed into carts, and check items before proceeding to the cash register to ensure that no items are missed
Runs items through the checkout counter and pay for them with one of the client’s cash, agency store accounts and/or courtesy charge card
Obtains two copies of the grocery receipt, one for the client and the other for finance
Carries grocery items up to 50lbs
Assists clients with carrying items into the home as directed
Provides follow-up with clients regarding problems such as incorrect deliveries, handle exchanges and returns
Completes the shopping sheet daily and tracks time spent shopping using the AlayaCare and/or Blaise app
Maintains cleanliness of the agency vehicle
Completes other related department needs/tasks as required by supervisor or delegated authority
Safe Vehicle Use
Conducts pre-trip vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift, including completion of required inspection checklists, verification of fluid levels, lights, tires, mileage, and overall vehicle condition, and identification and reporting of safety concerns or defects.
Ensures assigned vehicles are clean, fueled, properly equipped, and ready for client transportation and delivery services, maintaining a professional interior and exterior appearance.
Maintains accurate operational records, including vehicle mileage, fuel purchases and usage, pick-ups, deliveries, incidents, working hours, and vehicle service or repair status, in accordance with organizational procedures.
Reports vehicle defects, maintenance requirements, collisions, damage, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly to designated staff in accordance with organizational procedures.
Ensures vehicles, keys, fuel cards, tablets, and other organizational property are secured when not in use.
Operates organizational vehicles in accordance with applicable legislation, organizational policies, and safe driving practices.
Qualifications
Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check on file
Acceptable Driver’s Abstract
Current Emergency First Aid with CPR Level A certificate and willingness to stay current
Schedule and Requirements
Availability to work our operating hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Available to work
Fridays
as one of your regular weekly shifts; your second regular workday will be negotiated
Comfortable and confident operating any vehicle within CSC fleet
Must be able to drive for the
Tacofest
event which occurs in the evening on the Friday before Father’s Day
