Point Hope Maritime (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Journey person painter in Victoria, British Columbia. They will have the ability to prep surfaces and apply paint, varnishes and other coatings to a variety of materials and surfaces in a marine environment.
Applicants with 3+ years in the painting industry also considered.

Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces utilizing abrasive blasting, hydro-blasting, power and hand tooling and other surface preparation techniques, as specified, safely and efficiently
Correctly utilize appropriate paint testing equipment
Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain all equipment issued
Reinforce training of existing personnel in required equipment use, safety and upgrading skill level
Immediately notify job supervisor of damages, breakdowns, accidents and safety issues
Evaluate weather conditions and recommend appropriate revision of daily project plan to a supervisor
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and co-workers to promote a quality service image
Ensure required paperwork and other documentation is completed thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner
Physical fitness sufficient to satisfactorily perform daily job duties and assignments, including physically able to lift 50+ pounds, bend, stoop, climb, reach and balance
Capable of working at heights and in tight or confined spaces
Apply specific coating material utilizing airless conventional spray equipment, plural pumps and brushes, and rollers, as specified, safely and efficiently
Perform routine equipment maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Journey person painter preferred
Knowledge and experience in painting and sandblasting/surface prep techniques
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Ability to communicate, read, and understand/follow directions in English
Experience with brush, roll and spray-painting techniques
Willingness to participate in regular training programs and courses
Knowledge and Skills
Detail-oriented and dependable
Ability to follow instructions and consistently produce good work
Experience in automotive or industrial equipment painting an asset
Experience wet painting using a gun
Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
Highly motivated and self-directed
Knowledge of standard safety procedures and protocol
Familiar with marine and industrial coatings
Good knowledge of hand and power tools
Flexible and able to work in a team environment
Strong communication skills
Industry Training & Certification
Requirements:
Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and/or sit for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders and work from elevation, and walk on varied terrain
Regularly perform repetitive tasks
Ability to work within confined spaces
Possess manual dexterity
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Work Conditions:
Travel to off-site locations may be required
Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Overtime as required
Hazards associated with the trade
Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
