Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Order Picker Job Description This role focuses on accurately picking and staging food products in a high-volume warehouse that supports distribution to grocery retail locations across Ontario. You will use RF scanners and stand-up material handling equipment to build and move pallets in a refrigerated and freezer environment, contributing directly to efficient and timely order fulfillment. Responsibilities Report directly to the meeting board at the start of each shift to receive assignments and updates. Sign out and operate an RF scanner and stand-up material handling equipment such as a dock stocker or similar lift truck. Review order details on the RF scanner and travel to the designated warehouse locations. Perform case picking by selecting the correct quantities of products (for example, multiple cases of different meat products) according to the RF scanner instructions. Build full pallets while driving and maneuvering equipment, using hands-on, physical effort to lift and place cases weighing approximately 5–30 lbs, and up to 50 lbs when required. Securely stage completed pallets in the appropriate staging area once orders are fully picked. Move promptly to the next RF-scanned order and repeat the picking and staging process to maintain productivity targets. Work consistently in refrigerated and freezer areas, adapting to cold temperatures while maintaining safety and accuracy. After an initial period of approximately 3–4 months focused on case picking, participate in training on reach trucks to perform high-level case picking and potentially assist with receiving operations. Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines to protect yourself, coworkers, and inventory. Maintain cleanliness and organization in your work area and contribute to a tidy, efficient warehouse environment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues such as product location discrepancies, equipment concerns, or order changes. Essential Skills Experience operating a Crown reach truck or dock stocker (stand-up forklift). Experience using an RF scanner in a warehouse or similar environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with most cases typically ranging between 5–30 lbs. Comfort working in refrigerated and freezer environments throughout all seasons. Hands-on experience as a warehouse associate, order picker, or material handler. Proficiency operating stand-up forklifts, including dock stockers and reach trucks. Experience with shipping and receiving activities in a warehouse setting. Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, walkies, end riders, and similar warehouse equipment. Basic inventory handling experience, including locating, picking, and staging goods. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking and staging. Reliability and punctuality to support consistent shift-based operations. Physical stamina to perform repetitive lifting, walking, and equipment operation in a cold environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous work as a case picker, order picker, or warehouse forklift operator. Familiarity with using RF scanners for order picking and inventory tracking. Access to a personal vehicle is an asset due to the warehouse location. Willingness to learn high-level case picking using reach trucks after initial training. Openness to contributing to receiving operations when needed. Commitment to following safety protocols and using personal protective equipment in refrigerated and freezer conditions. Why Work Here? Work Environment The warehouse environment is clean, organized, and designed to support efficient, high-volume operations. The facility is bright and collaborative, promoting teamwork and clear communication across shifts. Work takes place primarily in refrigerated and freezer areas, with the fridge maintained around 2°reeC and the freezer around -15°reeC, so employees receive dedicated cold-weather gear such as jackets, snow pants, hats, and gloves. You will regularly operate stand-up forklifts, including dock stockers and reach trucks, as well as pallet jacks, walkies, and end riders, guided by RF scanners for order picking. The role is physically demanding, involving frequent lifting, walking, and equipment operation in cold conditions throughout the year. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to warehouse procedures to ensure a smooth and reliable operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Puslinch, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $26.25/hr.
