ABOUT US
STRIVE
is a specialist recruitment firm offering proactive recruitment solutions in the areas of Technology, Accounting & Finance, Corporate Administration, and Manufacturing Operations. STRIVE supports various clients from small to medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 organizations for their permanent, contract, and temporary recruitment needs.
THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment
is proud to partner with a federally regulated financial institution in Canada to recruit for an
Operational Risk Management (ORM) Practitioner
on a 1-year contract basis. They offer a hands-on, execution-focused environment where experienced professionals are trusted to deliver meaningful work independently from day one. The client is seeking a seasoned ORM Practitioner to build, launch, and embed a comprehensive enterprise-wide operational risk management framework. This is a highly execution-oriented, individual contributor role and requires someone who can hit the ground running with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities
Translate corporate governance policies into actionable ORM procedures, methodologies, and tools across the enterprise
Ensure the ORM framework meets all OSFI guidelines and requirements, including operational resilience, risk taxonomy, and escalation paths
Design, configure, and roll out standardized RCSAs, KRIs, and operational risk event data collection systems
Establish baseline reporting schedules, dashboard structures, and data flows to keep Senior Management and Executives informed
Qualifications
7+ years of operational risk or internal audit experience within a Federally Regulated Financial Institution (FRFI) in Canada
Direct, verifiable experience leading or executing a full-lifecycle ORM framework implementation
Deep practical knowledge of OSFI, including dependencies
Strong execution mindset — someone who prefers doing the work over managing teams or developing high-level strategy
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to drive framework adoption across diverse business lines
Preferred Skills
Experience working across multiple lines of defence in a complex, matrixed financial institution
Familiarity with GRC tools or platforms used for RCSA and KRI tracking
Ability to design reporting structures and risk dashboards tailored for Senior Management and Board-level audiences
What Success Looks Like
An enterprise-wide ORM framework is fully built and operational
OSFI compliance is clearly documented and demonstrable across all relevant areas
First Line of Defence business units are actively engaged and equipped to own their risk self-assessments
Reporting infrastructure is established and delivering consistent, accurate risk data to leadership
The framework is embedded with enough structure and documentation to be sustained beyond the contract period
