Position Summary
The Opportunity
Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Smithers Primary Care Clinic team. This Relief Full-time position offers flexibility and the chance to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages. The NP will attach a patient panel and contribute to a collaborative, culturally safe care environment supported by physicians, other nurse practitioners, primary care assistants, and an interprofessional team.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population.
Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documentation and care coordination.
Collaborate with a supportive team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals.
Participate in team-based care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner.
Experience in primary care across the lifespan.
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed care.

The Smithers Primary Care Clinic is an integral part of the regions health system, offering comprehensive primary care services. The NP will be part of a collaborative team that includes physicians, nurses, MOAs, and allied health professionals. Both sites use MOIS EMR and support a patient-centered, culturally respectful approach to care.

Salary Range:
New Graduate NP - $149,382
1 Year Experience - $156,851
2 Years Experience - $164,320

Qualfications
Education and Experience
-Completion of BCCNM approved Master's degree level nurse practitioner program.
-Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

-Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.
-Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.
-Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research.
