TRIUMF's Applied Technology Group is looking to hire a fully qualified and experienced Technician who will be tasked with the maintenance, repair, improvement and calibration of the nuclear ventilation systems and related components and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guided by outlines and procedures, independently carries out a variety of assignments that include the maintenance, repair and calibration of nuclear ventilation system and components
Provides input for proper operation and improvements of the RCA ventilation and control systems
Maintenance and repair of building systems such as ventilation, heating, domestic water and compressed air systems
In consultation with experts, contributes to design changes and improvements to the nuclear ventilation system
Prepares and maintains work procedures for testing and calibration
Demonstrates and instructs users in the usage and operation of the nuclear ventilation system
Maintains, repairs and improves the DOC system
Follows all applicable safety regulations and is responsible for the proper implementation of these requirements
May oversee the work of other personnel and junior-level technicians
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The use of independent thinking, initiative, sound judgment and the application of latest standards and knowledge in resolving complex design and/or operational problems is expected.
Demonstrated and up to date knowledge of HVAC systems, electromechanical systems, and controls is required to solve technical problems related to complex building mechanical systems for cyclotron operation
Ability to apply knowledge and experience to the design, calibration, testing and manufacturing of relevant components/systems as per operational requirements
Knowledge and understanding of control systems relating to HVAC, cooling systems and electrical power distribution systems is required to maintain system operation
Experience with calibration of sensors and instrumentation used on building systems
Demonstrated ability to use specialized techniques to solve problems, and adapt and react appropriately to new situations
Incumbent must have good oral and written communication skills, hands-on mechanical aptitude and be able to work well under stress
NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:
The incumbent will be required to complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
A technology diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field from a technical college or institute,
At least of 4 years of relevant and practical work experience.
Salary
: $70,380.00 per annum plus our comprehensive employer-paid benefits plan
