The advisor works closely with site leadership to ensure all activities are completed safely, in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards, while promoting a proactive safety culture across the project.
Responsibilities

Identify hazards and unsafe conditions in the field, communicate findings clearly, and work with site leadership and crews to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Perform environmental inspections in environmentally sensitive areas, ensuring work activities align with environmental protection requirements and best practices.
Use digital safety inspection platforms and mobile reporting tools to document inspections, observations, incidents, and corrective actions in a timely and accurate manner.
Support incident reporting and investigation processes, contributing to root cause analysis and lessons learned using recognized investigation methodologies where applicable.
Collaborate closely with supervisors, forepersons, and other site personnel to integrate safety into daily planning, task execution, and work permitting processes.
Provide guidance and coaching to workers on safe work practices, confined space entry, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to site safety rules.
Verify that workers have appropriate certifications and training, such as CSTS, Standard First Aid, and Confined Space, and reinforce their proper application in the field.
Monitor night shift activities involving heavy equipment, structural steel, carpentry, and electrical work to ensure safe operating procedures are followed.
Participate in or support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and shift kick-offs, sharing relevant safety information and reinforcing key risk controls.
Work independently with minimal supervision during night shift hours, making sound safety decisions and escalating issues when necessary.
Contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and procedures by providing feedback based on field observations and incident trends.
Essential Skills
5+ years of health and safety experience supporting active construction projects in industrial, oil and gas, civil, infrastructure, commercial, or transit environments.
Proven ability to independently lead field safety activities, including inspections, audits, observations, hazard identification, and direct support to site operations.
