These Medical/Surgical RN jobs are for Canadian nurses who have completed the NCLEX-RN, have recent hospital-based experience, and are willing to relocate to the United States. Opportunities may include: Medical/Surgical Units General Medicine or Surgery Orthopaedic Surgery Neurology Oncology Renal and Urology Gastrointestinal Units Telemetry Post-Operative Care Medical Observation Units Medical/Surgical RN Responsibilities Responsibilities vary by hospital and may include: Assessing and monitoring adult medical and surgical patients Developing and updating nursing care plans Administering medications, blood products, and IV therapies Providing wound and post-operative care Monitoring patients for changes in condition Preparing patients for procedures, surgery, and discharge Educating patients and families Maintaining accurate electronic health records Coordinating care with multidisciplinary clinical teams Following infection prevention and patient-safety procedures Working rotating shifts, weekends, or holidays when required Minimum Requirements Canadian citizenship; required for TN visa eligibility Active Canadian RN registration in good standing NCLEX-RN successfully completed Eligibility to obtain a nursing licence in the applicable U.S. state At least one year of recent hospital-based Medical/Surgical RN experience Current Basic Life Support certification Strong English communication and documentation skills Willingness to relocate to the United States Ability to satisfy hospital screening and health requirements A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred and may be required by certain hospital employers. Preferred Qualifications VisaScreen or Visa4Nurses Certificate completed or in progress Two or more years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience Telemetry or cardiac monitoring experience Post-operative nursing experience Wound care and IV therapy experience Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification Experience caring for patients with multiple medical conditions Compensation and Benefits U.S. hospital employers offer approximately $31 to $48 USD per hour , depending on the position, location, schedule, and experience. This is approximately $43 to $66 CAD per hour for comparison. Exchange rates fluctuate, and employees are paid in U.S. dollars.
