Job Purpose
You will represent medical science in a field-based 12-month contract role dedicated to Ontario, with the possibility to extend. As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the GSK Vaccines Medical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of GSK’s products across our Vaccines and Respiratory portfolios through scientific dialogue and collaboration. You will work closely with healthcare professionals, external experts, and internal teams to share insights, provide education, and contribute to GSK’s mission of getting ahead of disease together. This field-based role offers opportunities for professional growth, impactful work, and the chance to make a difference in the lives of patients in Canada. The position is a therapeutically aligned, field-based position covering Ontario province, where frequent travel is required.
Details (Your Responsibilities)
This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career, including the following responsibilities:
Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer‑to‑peer relationships with key external experts in primary care and respiratory by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support of highest industry standards in line with GSK values, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
Be recognized as the scientific field‑based partner in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, vaccines, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation aligned to business strategy.
Be agile and adaptable to engage and provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., primary care and respiratory experts and other healthcare professionals, investigators, medical societies and organizations, advocacy groups, etc.) in a non‑promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited inquiries.
Be a proactive and solutions‑oriented partner as the primary interface between the healthcare community and the internal cross‑functional GSK teams to gather and share back insights that inform current and future business strategies.
Represent GSK at scientific congresses by providing session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, leading external expert engagements and contributing to congress summaries/share‑backs as required.
Provide scientific training for GSK commercial team regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved training materials.
Assist the office‑based Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Clinical Development and Operations teams for Investigator Initiated Studies and other evidence generation projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree in a Medical or Life science field (e.g., Masters, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent).
Ability to apply and leverage scientific data with credibility while enabling peer‑to‑peer discussion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals and external experts.
Ability to lead cross‑functional teamwork and strategic execution of medical affairs plan in the assigned territory.
Sound negotiation, leadership, and organization skills.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory (up to 70%, including evenings and weekends).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a similar role.
Experience in vaccines, immunology or respiratory within a medical affairs role with established relationships/connections with associated healthcare professionals.
Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, including reimbursement processes.
Knowledge of regulations governing scientific exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment.
Familiarity with clinical development processes and real‑world evidence projects.
Bilingual proficiency in English and French for scientific discussions.
Experience presenting at scientific meetings for healthcare professionals.
This position requires the employee to drive routinely on company business and allows for the provision of a company‑leased vehicle. To be eligible for this position and a company vehicle, GSK will need to obtain acceptable results from a license verification inquiry and drivers abstract review against its safe driver program requirements. In compliance with Ontario's provincial pay transparency legislation, this job posting includes a salary range to support equitable and informed hiring practices. The annual compensation for this role is CAD115,000 to CAD165,000, determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
