Location: GTA, Ontario
Compensation: $75,000-$110,000

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client is a well-established Canadian contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major mechanical construction projects across the infrastructure sector. With a robust project pipeline and continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced
Mechanical Estimator
to their preconstruction team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates and supporting the tendering process from opportunity identification through project handover. Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements, risks, and opportunities.
Performing quantity take-offs and labour calculations.
Soliciting, evaluating, and leveling subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Preparing RFIs and clarifications during the bidding process.
Coordinating bid submissions, tender documentation, and pricing strategies.
Participating in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-tender reviews.
Supporting procurement activities and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Assisting with project turnover by converting successful estimates into project budgets and handover packages.
Working closely with operations teams to support project execution, productivity tracking, change pricing, and claims when required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
4+ years of estimating experience with a mechanical contractor.
Experience estimating mechanical construction projects involving municipal, or water/wastewater infrastructure.
A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or related field.
Professional membership with organizations such as PEO, OACETT, or AACE.
Strong understanding of construction methods, estimating principles, and cost control.
Experience preparing quantity take-offs and developing complete bid packages.
Working knowledge of construction scheduling concepts (CPM).
Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, SmartBid, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
The ability to manage multiple tenders while meeting critical deadlines.
