Intermediate Mechanical Engineer
for a growing technology and engineering organization located in Woodbridge, Ontario.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about mechanical design, problem solving, and hands-on engineering. The ideal candidate will enjoy working on technically challenging products involving moving assemblies, tooling, sensors, and mechanical systems. This role is best suited for someone with strong design fundamentals who enjoys collaborating with experienced engineers, supporting shop floor teams, and contributing to new product and tool development.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the design and development of new mechanical tool technologies
Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software
Produce complete manufacturing and assembly drawing packages
Work on moving assemblies, mechanisms, springs, sensors, and dynamic mechanical systems
Track and support project milestones related to schedule, budget, and deliverables
Participate in tool assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and proof-of-principle work
Collaborate with shop floor, fabrication, operations, and engineering teams
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and shop floor personnel
Support engineering change management processes, including ECR/ECN tasks
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and internal engineering best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Sciences, or equivalent experience
Minimum 4 years of mechanical engineering design experience
Minimum 3 years of experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Solid Edge, or similar
Experience creating manufacturing and assembly drawing packages
Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
Knowledge of materials, heat treatments, surface finishes, tolerances, and GD&T
Experience designing moving assemblies, mechanisms, tooling, machinery, or dynamic systems
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working hands-on with tools, assemblies, and testing
Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly with engineering and shop floor teams
Coachable, curious, and open to learning from experienced engineers
Strong problem-solving mindset and passion for technical design challenges
Nice to Have
Experience in automation, robotics, custom machinery, tooling, or test equipment
Experience with sensors, pneumatics, servos, or sensing technologies
Experience working in PDM or a similar data management / revision control environment
Some project management experience
Certified SolidWorks Professional designation
Experience in inspection technology, NDT, or related industries is an asset
