Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and sustainability of a diverse range of devices, including desktop, hand-held, and DECT phones. The candidate will primarily work with plastics, create assembly drawings, and troubleshoot new products. This role is essential in keeping our product portfolio current and innovative. Responsibilities Design and sustain devices across three categories: desktop, hand-held, and DECT phones. Work extensively with plastics and create assembly drawings. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with new products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product success. Engage in hands-on work with devices to identify and fix problems. Essential Skills Minimum of 5 years of hands-on design experience, preferably in plastic injection molding. Proficiency in CREO or Solidworks for mechanical design. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, compression molding, and CNC. Familiarity with DFX processes, including Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Cost. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, self-starting attitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in mechanical PCB layout design. Strong understanding of the product development process from concept to mass production. Experience in tolerance analysis, including GD&T. Hands-on prototype fabrication experience, including 3D printing and debugging. Experience working with external suppliers for prototyping and tooling. Modeling skills in Pro-e Creo, including solid modeling, assembly, 2D drawing, and surface modeling. Agile PLM experience is a plus. Structural simulation skills are a plus. Work Environment This role offers the flexibility of working from home 75% of the time, with 25% of the time spent on-site in the lab. The team comprises two other mechanical engineers located in Kanata and two in China, fostering a collaborative and international work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Workplace Type This is a hybrid position in Ottawa,ON.
