Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Material Handler (Glass) Shift: Morning (7:00am - 3:30pm) OR Afternoon (3:30pm - 12:00am), Monday - Friday Location: Langley/Aldergrove Payrate: Morning - $22-$23/hr, OR Afternoon - $24/hr - $25/hr Job Description The Material Handler (Glass) supports production by safely handling glass materials, ensuring products meet quality standards, and helping maintain an efficient and safe manufacturing environment. This position works closely with the production team and follows established procedures to keep operations running smoothly and safely. Responsibilities Load, unload, sort, and stage glass using manual handling methods in a safe and efficient manner. Read and verify glass tags and specifications to ensure correct material selection and accurate machine setup. Inspect finished glass products for size, thickness, and overall quality, using a tape measure to confirm dimensions and tolerances. Reject products that fall outside acceptable tolerances and follow proper procedures for handling nonconforming materials. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of broken glass and other waste materials. Maintain equipment in safe working condition by performing basic checks and reporting any issues promptly. Uphold housekeeping standards in the department by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Support different areas of the production process as needed to maintain workflow and meet production targets. Essential Skills Experience in material handling, general labor, or production environments. Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and follow specifications and written instructions. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and perform repetitive tasks safely. Ability to lift, move, and handle glass and materials weighing approximately 50–75 lbs throughout the shift. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around industrial equipment. Positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn, adapt, and support different areas of the operation as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications CNC experience is considered an asset. Experience working with glass, granite, or stone materials is an advantage. Experience with material handling equipment such as overhead cranes is considered an asset. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a glass manufacturing shop that operates Monday through Friday, working alongside approximately 24 colleagues. The environment can be hot in the summer and cooler in the winter, with glass ovens helping to keep the area fairly warm. The setting is industrial and fast-paced, with a focus on safety and proper handling of glass materials. Personal protective equipment is required and includes durable work or canvas-type pants, a Kevlar jacket, double-layer gloves, a hard hat, goggles, earplugs, and steel-toed work boots. A shift premium applies for the afternoon shift, reflecting the non-standard working hours in this production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Langley, BC.
