Aerotek is hiring a material handler for our client in Burnaby, BC!
The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting warehouse and manufacturing operations by safely moving, organizing, and transacting materials and inventory. This position focuses on accurate inventory control, efficient material flow to production areas, and adherence to safety, quality, and workplace organization standards in a fast-paced, clean, and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Load and unload pallets, parts, and materials from shelves, racking, trucks, boxes, containers, and carts using manual and powered pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
Safely operate a stand-up forklift in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment while following all relevant safety and compliance standards.
Maintain organized inventory by location, count, and status, ensuring materials are easy to find and accurately tracked.
Transact materials in the ERP system to match the physical movement of parts, maintaining accurate electronic records.
Accurately pick, count, label, and transact parts for production operations according to pick lists and ad hoc requests.
Expedite materials and transactions to support manufacturing operations and minimize production delays.
Maintain and deliver in-process inventory to point-of-use workstations on the production floor.
Verify and receive materials against purchase orders in the ERP system, ensuring correct quantities and part numbers.
Use reel counters and scales to accurately count inventory, particularly for electronic components.
Use appropriate packaging and handling methods to protect materials from damage, including electrostatic discharge prevention and protection of moisture-sensitive parts.
Store and organize parts according to material handling guidance such as FIFO (First In, First Out), locator organization, and weight considerations.
Enter cycle counts into the ERP system and ensure that inventory records reflect accurate quantities.
Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical counts of stock, investigating discrepancies, and adjusting errors as needed.
Verify, reconcile, and transact materials returned from manufacturing to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Process inventory adjustments in the ERP system while following the established approval hierarchy.
Handle parts in accordance with part specifications and follow detailed instructions for orientation of parts in trays and tape-and-reel packaging.
Select the correct pocket and tape for tape-and-reel packaging to ensure proper fit and protection of components.
Maintain safety standards and support 5S workplace organization practices, keeping work areas clean, orderly, and efficient.
Use RF scanners and related equipment to support shipping, receiving, order picking, and warehouse inventory activities.
Support general production, shipping, receiving, loading, unloading, picking, packing, and packaging activities as needed.
Collaborate closely with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, head-down teamwork culture.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support overall warehouse and manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of relevant experience in inventory, warehouse, or material handling work.
Experience using manual and/or powered pallet jacks and related equipment to handle and move materials.
Experience operating stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with material handling, inventory, picking, packing, loading, unloading, order picking, and general labor in a production or warehouse setting.
Experience handling fragile materials, including electronic components, with care and attention to detail.
Ability to use an ERP system to transact materials, perform cycle counts, and reconcile inventory.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Proficiency in English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory and documentation.
Self-starter mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and accuracy.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime when required.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
Willingness to use electrostatic-safe steel-toe footwear.
Comfort working with RF scanners and related warehouse technology.
Ability to work closely with others and maintain good communication within the team.
Flexible and adaptable attitude, with willingness to modify activities and direction in a dynamic business environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in shipping and receiving activities within a warehouse or manufacturing facility.
Experience with warehouse inventory processes, including cycle counting and inventory adjustments.
Familiarity with tape-and-reel packaging, part orientation, and handling of moisture-sensitive and electrostatic-sensitive components.
Understanding of FIFO inventory practices and locator-based organization systems.
Knowledge of 5S workplace organization principles and safety practices in a production environment.
Comfort working in environments where occasional exposure to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels, and moving equipment may occur.
Ability to contribute to a positive team attitude and support cross-training across departments.
Eligibility to work full-time in Canada for any employer.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, organized, clean, and generally quiet production facility with multiple departments on the floor. The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and flexible hours required during busy periods. The environment can be louder during morning shifts due to operating machinery and quieter in the afternoon. Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels, and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, and appropriate safety practices are followed. You will work with material handling equipment such as manual and powered pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts, RF scanners, reel counters, scales, and an ERP system to manage inventory and transactions. Dress code includes wearing a provided smock on the production floor, shoe covers, ear plugs, goggles, and safety toe footwear (STW) to support safety and electrostatic protection. You will be part of a team of approximately 50 people within a structured, head-down, teamwork-focused environment where cross-training across departments is encouraged.
