Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Material Handler The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting warehouse and manufacturing operations by safely moving, tracking, and organizing materials and inventory. This position focuses on accurate material handling, ERP-based inventory transactions, and timely delivery of parts to production areas in a clean, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Load and unload pallets, parts, and materials from shelves, racking, trucks, boxes, containers, and carts using manual and powered pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment. Safely operate a forklift in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment while following all relevant safety and compliance standards. Maintain organized inventory by location, count, and status, and perform regular cycle counts to ensure accuracy. Transact materials in the ERP system to match the physical movement of parts throughout the facility. Accurately pick, count, label, and transact parts for production operations according to pick lists and ad hoc requests. Expedite materials and ERP transactions to support timely manufacturing operations and minimize production delays. Maintain and deliver in-process inventory to point-of-use workstations on the production floor. Verify and receive materials against purchase orders in the ERP system, ensuring correct quantities and part numbers. Use reel counters and scales to accurately count and verify inventory of electronic components and other materials. Apply appropriate packaging and handling methods to protect materials from damage, including electrostatic discharge prevention and protection of moisture-sensitive parts. Store and organize parts according to material handling guidance, including FIFO principles, locator organization, and weight considerations. Enter cycle count data into the ERP system and ensure all inventory adjustments are properly recorded. Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical stock counts, investigating discrepancies, and adjusting errors as required. Verify, reconcile, and transact materials returned from manufacturing to maintain accurate inventory records. Process inventory adjustments in the ERP system while following the established approval hierarchy. Package parts according to part specifications, ensuring correct orientation and protection. Follow specifications for orientation of parts in trays and on tape-and-reel packaging. Select the correct pocket size and tape type for tape-and-reel packaging of components. Maintain safety standards and 5S workplace organization, keeping work areas clean, orderly, and compliant with safety requirements. Collaborate with team members and other departments to support production needs and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support warehouse, inventory, and production activities. Essential Skills At least 1 year of relevant experience in inventory, warehouse, or material handling work. Hands-on experience using manual and powered pallet jacks and material-handling equipment to move and transport materials. Experience handling fragile materials, particularly electronic components that require careful movement and protection. Ability to safely operate a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to transact materials and perform inventory activities in an ERP system. Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, to follow instructions and communicate with team members. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory and documentation. Self-starter mindset with the ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and productivity goals. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis as part of daily material-handling tasks. Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Willingness to purchase and wear electrostatic-safe steel-toe footwear as required for the role. Ability to work flexible schedules when needed, including overtime during busy periods. Ability to work closely with others and maintain clear, respectful communication. Authorization to work full-time in Canada for any employer. Willingness to submit to pre-employment checks and Controlled Goods screening, as required for CGP clearance. Comfort using RF scanners for inventory and order picking activities. Experience with shipping and receiving tasks in a warehouse setting. Experience with stand-up forklift operation in a warehouse environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. Experience with general labor, production, and general warehouse operations. Previous experience with order picking, loading, unloading, and packaging in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with tape-and-reel packaging processes for electronic components. Understanding of FIFO inventory principles and basic inventory control practices. Ability to be flexible and adaptable, and willing to modify activities and direction in a dynamic business environment. Comfort working in a large facility with multiple departments and cross-functional teams. Interest in cross-training across departments to develop new skills and support team flexibility. Work Environment This role is based in a large, organized, and clean production facility with multiple departments on the manufacturing floor. The atmosphere is generally quiet and structured, though noise levels can be higher during morning shifts due to operating machinery and production activity, and quieter in the afternoon. Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels from equipment, and physical hazards from moving machinery and machine parts, with appropriate safety measures in place. The culture emphasizes head-down teamwork, a positive team attitude, and cross-training opportunities across departments to support skill development and operational flexibility. You will be part of a team of approximately 50 people. The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and flexible hours possible during busy periods. Dress code includes wearing a provided smock on the production floor, shoe covers, ear plugs, and goggles as needed, along with safety-toe footwear to meet workplace safety requirements.
